IV Curve (VI Curve)

Our Take

The I-V or V-I curve (current to voltage or voltage to current characteristic curve) graphically shows the relationship between the voltage across an electrical or electronic device and the current flowing through it. It helps us understand how an electrical or electronic device operates. For example, the I-V curve of a diode when it is forward biased — through it, we can determine at what particular forward voltage the current will increase rapidly.
